]]> En 1886 el fútbol británico redacto las reglas de la I.F.A.B. (International Football Association Board) fue muy seria con el fin de organizar un campeonato nacional inglés partiendo de un sistema competitivo ordenado y regularizado por normas a ser acatadas por todos los intervinientes.

Para la temporada de 1889/90 se organizan 12 clubes ingleses para dar creación a la “Football League Championship”.

Entre ellos estan: el Preston North End F.C. (1881), el Everton F.C. (1878) de Liverpool, el Blackburn Rovers F.C. (1875), el Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. (1877), el West Bromwich Albion F.C. (1878), el Accrington F.C. (1876), el Derby County F.C. (1884), el Aston Villa F.C. (1874) de Birmingham, el Bolton Wanderers F.C. (1874), el Notts County F.C. (1862) de Nottingham, el Burnley F.C. (1882) y finalmente el Stoke City F.C. (1863) de Stoke-on-Trent.

Este campeonato futbolístico provoca la atención de todas las comunidades británicas alrededor del mundo y es así como el fútbol empieza a desbancar a deportes tradicionales como el cricket.
